The Last Nazi. Pottinger.
Lawyer Melissa Gale has dedicated her life to tracking down Nazis, in memory of her Holocaust survivor grandmother. Happily married to a Washington Post journalist, she is on the trail of a particularly elusive Nazi, Adalwolf, who always seems to be one step ahead of her, and who has apparently manufactured a lethal virus with which he is infecting random civilians. On a personal level, she is having fertility treatment for a much wanted baby. A debacle in which an American war veteran is killed in place of Adalwolf coincides with Melissa's pregnancy and she decides to work unofficially on the case for its duration. But Adalwolf has other ideas: Melissa's baby is a vital part of his genocidal plan, and the race is on. Can Melissa get to him before he gets to her?

In Good Company: One Man’s War in Vietnam. McKay
Scondhand G Cond.
On Friday 8th March 1968, 20 year old Gary McKay lost the lottery - he was conscripted. From a comfortable and carefree life of surfing and rugby football, he was drafted into the deadly serious preparation for war in the jungles of South Vietnam. "In Good Company" is his story. It begins with induction and selection for the officer academy for national servicemen at Scheyville, a six-month "pressure cooker" course which produced second lieutenants ready to lead troops into action against the Viet Cong. It ends three and a half years later with a burst of NVA machine-gun fire during a battle among enemy-held bunkers in the hills of Nui Lae. This book is a grass-roots account of the blood, sweat and tears shared by a rifle platoon in jungle warfare, a story of the fears and the camaraderie which soldiers experience in combat. Gary McKay fashioned this account from his experience in action, leading his platoon. The detail is provided from the 80 letters he wrote to his wife while he served. He wrote his story for the reader who wants to know what the soldier on the ground went through - in the jungle and in battle.

The Lost World of the Amazon. Eichhorn
No dustjacket, some foxing
This is the thrilling story of the making of one of the most brilliant documentary films - Franz Eichhorn's famous expedition into the "Green Hell" of the Amazon. It is a story of skill, doggedness and tremendous endurance. After a first attempt during which one of their party died, the team managed to drag their heavy equipment through tangled forest and over a lacework of rivers and primeval swamps, fighting fever and intense heat, until their work was complete: an unforgettable record of nightmarish beasts and strange people. Franz Eichhorn is justly world-famous for his docuementary work. His expedition deep into the Amazon resulted in cinema history, permanent and astounding proof of this mysterious, terrifying, lost world where time has truly stood still.

Postscript to Voyager - The Melbourne Voyager Collision . Hickling.
The detailed account of the HMAS Melbourne–Voyager collision.
The Melbourne–Voyager collision was a collision between two warships of the Royal Australian Navy (RAN); the aircraft carrier HMAS Melbourne (R21) and the destroyer HMAS Voyager (D04). On the evening of 10 February 1964, the two ships were performing manoeuvres off Jervis Bay, when Voyager sailed under Melbourne's bow. She was cut in two and sunk, and 82 of her crew killed.
Two Royal Commissions were held to investigate the incident. The first studied the circumstances of the collision, while the second focused on claims by a former Voyager senior officer that the destroyer's captain was unfit for command. It is the only time in Australian history that two Royal Commissions have been held for a single incident.

The Drama of the Scharnhorst. Busch.
1956 1st edn.
'"Scharnhorst" sunk by British naval forces 60 sea miles NW of North Cape, 26th December, 1943 at 19 hours 45'. So ran the radio announcement that told the world of the end of the German battleship "Scharnhorst". The implications of this short message, in terms of human experience, remained unknown until the end of the war when the story was told by the few German survivors and the officers and men of the British Navy. While the epic of the final battle forms the core of his narrative, Fritz-Otto Busch also depicts life aboard the 32,000-ton warship and records her short, eventful history from her launching in 1939 to her fateful demise. He relates how "Scharnhorst" sank the British aircraft carrier "Glorious" in 1940, menaced Allied shipping in the Atlantic throughout 1941, and made her impudent, flaunting dash up the channel to the safety of the Norwegian fjords in 1942. Considered by her crew to be a "lucky ship", her luck ran out in 1943 when she found herself outnumbered in Arctic waters by superior Allied naval forces. The British ships were equipped with Radar, the "Scharnhorst" was not - a fatal disadvantage that was to prove decisive.

The Significance of Ribbon Colours on Medals Worn Since 1815 by Australians. Grebert.
Many books have been written describing the various orders, decorations and medals worn by Australians.
However, this is the first publication which documents the significance of the colours chosen in the design of the ribbon supporting the medal. Originally the 'Naval Riband of England', a white ribbon with navy blue edges or the 'Military Riband of England', a crimson ribbon with dark blue edgeswas used on all campaign medals.
With the introduction of ribbon bars, multi coloured ribbons were introduced to differentiate one medal from another. With the assistance of this book, the reader will not only be able to identify medals worn by Australians, they will also develop a greater understanding of the significance of the colours of the supporting ribbons.
This book covers British Orders, Decorations and Medals awarded to Australians, the Australian Honours system, United Nations and NATO Medals awarded to Australians, Foreign Orders, Decorations and Medals awarded to Australians, Association and other Unofficial Medals worn by Australians, and the Order of Wearing Australian Honours and Awards.
A highly desirable reference book.
